I try never to play Christmas music until Thanksgiving is over… largely because the retail stores and tv commercials seem to start their promos right after Halloween; which really annoys me (and I’m sure I’m not alone.) However, I just…
Just Because…. The Dixie Chicks – Easy Silence
There are times of stress and turmoil when all we crave is silence. I hope that you are blessed to have someone to keep the world at bay for you AND that you are a person that others can turn to for refuge.
It just seems to be an appropriate song for the strive of the current political/world situation.
“Easy Silence”
When the calls and conversations
Accidents and accusations
Messages and misperceptions
Paralyze my mind….
Monday Morning Music – Cheryl Wheeler – When Fall Comes to New England
July 2001 – There I was in the grocery store line when my eyes fell upon the recent copy of “Yankee Magazine”. It was not my typical read of choice but there was a music sampler inside and Aerosmith on the cover, so I bought it.
I wasn’t expecting…
Monday Morning Music… River Flow in You
Sometimes before you even open your eyes life tries to knock you into your own personal version of “Sharknado2″… before you get sucked into the stress of others, before you blindly react, before you start running in any direction… s-t-o-p.
Instead….
Monday Morning Music… Working Man / Blue Collar Man
In honor of Labor Day here’s a couple of my favorite “working man” tunes:
Rush – Working Man – 1974
Monday Morning Music… Monday Songs – Parody & Peaceful
Do you absolutely love Mondays? Then here’s a song to celebrate with:
If you’d prefer a more peaceful start to your day…
Monday Morning Music… I Wanna Be Sedated (RIP Tommy Ramone)
As we mourn the loss of the last original member of The Ramones (1974-1996) – we rejoice that a new generation of fans is finding their tunes.
Even though this is thought of as a sad tune, I can’t help but…
Monday Morning Music…. Get Up, Stand Up
Something for the rainy day, an easy groove with a great message to get you ready for whatever the day throws your way.
Monday Morning Music… Get Right Back Where We Started From
Whatever/whomever you’re enamored with – sometimes things get in the way. If it’s worth fighting for then FIGHT! Regroup and remember what you fell in love with in the first place.
If we’re talking business, then look back at the successes that filled you up and made your soar like an eagle – proud and in charge! Grab onto the great parts and let the rest fall away (or put it in the hands of someone else).
I guess that could work for love too…
Dance like EVERYONE is watching and you just don’t care!!! Fall back in love again…. ’cause that’s what you’ll remember at journey’s end.
Monday Morning Music… Weapon of Prayer
For this Memorial Day, I post a tune that you may never have heard, by a band you’ve probably never heard of: Weapon of Prayer by The Notting Hillbillies.
The Hillbillies were a country/folk band comprised of many musicians, including Mark Knopfler, who was looking to do something a little different after his mega success with Dire Straits “Brother in Arms” CD.
The song just seems to work today…
Weapon of Prayer
In that land across the sea there’s a job for you and me
Though our presence there may not be found
We must stay standing there on the battle lines and pray
We must never lay our weapons down
